Membership Categories and Fees
Members of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society fall into one of several categories.
A Practising Lawyer is one who can carry on the practice of law in Nova Scotia as defined in Part II of the Legal Profession Act.
Non Practising, Retired, and Life Members of the Society cannot carry on the practice of law, but are members of the Society and receive all communications from the Society including the Society Record, Inforum, and notices.
Membership Fees for the various categories of membership are embedded in the Society's Regulations and are set each year by Council. Membership Fees are considered paid when received at the Society's Offices and the annual fees are due no later than June 30 of each year (for the upcoming year).
