About > Governance
The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society derives its authority to govern the legal profession in Nova Scotia from the Legal Profession Act, RSNS 2004,c.28 and Regulations made by Council pursuant to that Act. The Act establishes the structures for the Society and its authority to admit members to the Bar and to discipline them. As well the Act establishes the Lawyers' Insurance Association of Nova Scotia, which provides compulsory liability insurance for lawyers in Nova Scotia, and the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia, which collects funds from interest on lawyers trust accounts and uses them for charitable purposes.Search for a Lawyer
