The Barristers' Library in Halifax is located on the 7th Floor of The Law Courts at 1815 Upper Water Street in Halifax. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Library staff can be reached at 425-2665.

To gain access to the library outside of staff hours or on the weekend, enter The Law Courts on the main floor (2nd floor). If you are a lawyer, please show your barristers' card to the commissionaire at the reception desk and sign the log book. If you are an articled clerk, please show your library card to the commissionaire and sign the log book. If you are a law school student working at a firm in Nova Scotia for the summer and need to use the library after hours, please have your employer send a letter outlining the duration of your employment to the Director of Library & Information Services and you will be provided after-hours access to the Barristers' Library. Please note the reserve collection is not accessible outside of staff hours.

There are thirteen county barristers’ libraries located throughout the province to serve members. Satellite collections are housed at the Kings County Barristers’ Library in Kentville and the Simon J. Khattar, Q.C. Memorial Barristers’ Library in Sydney for members’ use, as well. Please consult the following list for location information. Please note the barristers’ libraries are for the use of the members of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society only.
